In the middle of all the debates, previews, and predictions for each of the 10 participating countries, the men’s ODI World Cup 2023 has officially begun. On October 5, the 2019 World Cup finalists England and New Zealand square off in Ahmedabad’s mouthwatering opening match.
According to estimates from analysts at the Bank of Baroda, the major event contributed significantly to the Indian economy, amounting to 220 billion ($2.6 billion), according to reports from the Times of India.
The tournament, which spans 48 games over 10 locations in India over a month and a half, is anticipated to draw a sizable audience from both domestic and foreign markets. According to economists Jahnavi Prabhakar and Aditi Gupta, the tourism and hotel industries will mostly benefit.
The event will take place during India’s three-month long holiday season, and it is anticipated that many fans would buy items, which will be very beneficial for the retail industry.
The analysts also forecast that other sponsorship income from the overall Indian TV and streaming audience will amount to between 105 and 120 billion rupees. These will be supplemented by the increased tax receipts from lodging, food delivery, and ticket sales, giving India a significant budgetary boost.

India’s cricket team, known as the “Men in Blue,” has been performing exceptionally well in one-day internationals (ODIs).
