The Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, witnessed another clash between India and Australia. India defeated the visitors in the first Test match played in Nagpur. India has not lost a Test match in Delhi since 1987 and will try to keep their streak alive. Mohammed Shami’s witty bowling variations with the semi new & old ball were beautifully complemented by the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin as India restricted Australia to 263 on the opening day of the second Test. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each, and fast bowler Mohammed Shami picked up 4-60 on Day 1 of the 2nd Test to restrict Australia.

Mohammad Shami picked up the final wicket for Australian Cricket Team. He took the wicket of Kuhnemann while Handscomb remains unbeaten on 72. Australia must be happy with their performance, as they could put on a decent total, given how the pitch was playing.

On the other hand, India saw the remaining few overs of the 1st day of the 2nd Test without losing any wickets to return on Saturday morning and take it from there—nevertheless, brilliant fightback by the Australian Cricket Team after getting thrashed in the first IND vs AUS Test . Aussies were bowled out for 263 runs in the first innings, with Usman Khawaja making the maximum runs for Australia with 81 runs off 125 balls, which includes 12 fours and a six. On the other hand, Peter Handscomb scored 72 off 142 balls, unbeaten, including 9 fours.

India reached 21-0 at stumps with Rohit Sharma on 13 and KL Rahul on 4. India finished the day without any loss of wickets. However, the wicket played many more tricks, making it challenging for the batters. Australian bowlers must be excited to bowl on this pitch. Todd Murphy hasn’t bowled today; however, he will play a considerable part on Day 2 of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test. Indian openers need to play longer for tomorrow and blunt the new ball so that it gets more accessible for the batters to follow—a lot of intense cricket to follow on Saturday.
