India coach and former Australia player Greg Chappell thinks Australia has a good chance of winning the forthcoming four-match Test series since India is “vulnerable” due to injuries of important players like Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah (back injury) is not included in the Indian squad for the first two Tests, while the explosive keeper-batter Pant is unavailable for the majority of the year as he continues to heal from injuries received in a horrible car accident. This series is well within Australia’s capabilities. India is currently more vulnerable at home than they have been for some time as a result of injuries sustained by important players such as Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah. According to Greg Chappell, India’s chances of victory rest heavily on the shoulders of Virat Kohli. Ravindra Jadeja, a renowned spin-bowling all-rounder who recently returned from a knee injury and competed in the Ranji Trophy last month, has been selected to play for India in the Test series that will begin in Nagpur.
Sometimes, games that appear to be going nowhere will abruptly alter at a frenzied tempo, tricking visiting teams. The former India coach warned that Australia would need to adjust fast with bat and ball since the Indians are used to the pressure.
Chappell has stated that on turning surfaces, Australia’s lone left-arm tweaker, finger spinner Ashton Agar, should be picked to partner Nathan Lyon.
Chappell said that if the pitches favour spin, which is more likely, then I expect Ashton Agar to get the nod because finger spin is deemed to be more effective.
For someone who amassed 619 wickets in Test cricket, Anil Kumble was remarkably disciplined. His specialty was a fast, flat leg break that was a constant threat to the stumps. Batsman understood the consequences of missing a ball. The precision that Jadeja provides in his work is his trademark.
