BJP MP Gautam Gambhir asked party leader JP Nadda to release him from political work. Saturday, March 2, he posted on social media. He wants to pay more attention to cricket.
Gambhir, aged 42, represents East Delhi as a BJP MP. He became Kolkata Knight Riders’ mentor in November 2023. As a leader, he guided the team to wins in the 2012 and 2014 IPL games.

On Saturday, Gambhir shared a post on his X Twitter expressing his desire to leave politics, writing:
“I have requested Hon’ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind.”

In 2019, the ex-India opener became a BJP member. He was an important person in the Delhi party. He claimed victory in East Delhi during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He won by a big difference of 6,95,109 votes.
Gautam Gambhir’s association with KKR

Gambhir represented the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL from 2011 to 2017. Under his guidance, KKR has won two IPL titles. Kolkata defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets in the 2012 IPL final, and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) by three wickets in the high-scoring 2014 summit match.
While returning KKR as a mentor for the next IPL season, Gambhir stated in an official release:
“I am not an emotional person and not many things move me. But this is different. This is back to where it all started. Today, there is a lump in my throat and fire in my heart as I think about slipping into that purple and gold jersey once again. I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the city of joy. I am back. I am hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR.”

Gambhir tops the list as KKR’s highest scorer. He has 3,345 runs marked in 122 games, his average rate standing at 31.26. With a strike rate of 124.72, he’s made 30 half-centuries.
