Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) encountered the wrath of fans after a seven-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, May 6 at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
After deciding to bat first, RCB amassed a respectable score of 181/4 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli (55 off 46 balls) scored his sixth half-century of the season and became the first player in IPL history to reach 7000 runs. However, he was unable to accelerate after getting set and finished up with a dismal strike rate of 119.57.
Faf du Plessis, the captain, produced 45 runs off 32 balls. Then, with a magnificent fifty, Mahipal Lomror (54* off 29 balls) gave a beautiful finish for the squad.
DC batters adopted a different approach than the RCB top-order, going all guns blazing from the start. Philip Salt (87 off 45 balls) performed brilliantly as the Capitals cruised to win in 16.4 overs. All of DC’s batters batted aggressively, thoroughly dismantling Bangalore’s bowling attack.
Fans reacted to the RCB’s disappointed defeat against the DC on Twitter. Here are a few of the greatest responses:
