On Tuesday (April 1), the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fell to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 28 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was their third loss in four games in the ongoing season of the lucrative league.
When asked to bat first, the Super Giants scored 181/5 in their 20 overs. Quinton de Kock excelled with the bat, hitting 81 runs off 56 balls in an innings that included five sixes and eight boundaries. Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, and skipper KL Rahul scored 40*(21), 24 (15), and 20 (14), respectively.
Glenn Maxwell shined with the ball for Bengaluru, taking 2/23, while Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Reece Topley each claimed one wicket.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru innings ended quickly at 153 in 19.4 overs. They were the first team bowled out in IPL 2024’s season. Mahipal Lomror led their scoring with 33 off 13 balls, hitting three sixes and three fours. Although Rajat Patidar (29 off 21) and Virat Kohli (22 off 16) got starts, their knocks couldn’t propel RCB across the line.
Mayank Yadav, who recently rose to prominence for his 150kmph+ speeds, finished as the top LSG bowler with 3/14, while Naveen-ul-Haq took two wickets. Manimaran Siddharth and Marcus Stoinis settled for one each.
