Team India captain Rohit Sharma struck his 12th Test century on Friday, March 8, to propel his team to a commanding lead in the fifth Test against England in Dharamshala. Ben Stokes bowled the opening batsman early in the second session of Day 2, after he hit 103 runs off 162 deliveries.
Rohit Sharma had created the groundwork for his innings on the opening day of the Test, when the spinners swept out the visitors for 218 runs. He capitalised on his strong start and thrived in his massive combination with Shubman Gill for the second wicket.
He got his century before the conclusion of the first session, but was unable to turn it into something more when England captain Stokes struck in his first delivery of the visit. Rohit was caught all ends up as the ball nibbled away after pitching and hit the top of off stump, bringing the stand to an end. His knock had 13 fours and three sixes.
Although supporters were disappointed that Rohit did not pile on after hitting his milestone, they applauded the knock, which might lay the groundwork for Team India’s probable victory.
