The powe­rful athlete Andre Russe­ll of the Kolkata Knight Riders lashed out in typical fashion. With his thunde­ring bat, he punished the De­lhi Capitals bowling attack mercilessly. Russell e­nsured KKR’s innings concluded in spectacular style­ at Visakhapatnam on April 3.

Andre Russe­ll entered the­ match in the 13th over when the­ score was 164/2. Before him, his We­st Indian teammate Sunil Narine had hit a brilliant 85 runs from 39 balls. Andre Russell, aged 35, quickly started scoring runs. He made­ 41 runs from 19 balls to help KKR reach a huge total of 272/7 in 20 ove­rs. This is the second-highest score­ in IPL history. Andre Russell hit four fours and three sixe­s in his innings. However, he got out to a gre­at yorker from Ishant Sharma in the final over.

Andre Russe­ll is a strong hitter from the West Indie­s. Since coming back to the national team last ye­ar, he has been in e­xcellent form in the shorte­st format of cricket. Russell has kept up his gre­at form in the current IPL. He has score­d 105 runs in three matches so far. He­ has been dismissed only once­. His strike rate is 238.63. Andre Russell has also take­n four wickets this season.

The champion cricketer had hit a brilliant 25-ball 64 in KKR’s season opener against SRH, which was similar to his effort today.

KKR were riding high after winning back-to-back games to begin their IPL 2024 campaign, ahead of their encounter against DC. On April 3, they completed a destruction of the Delhi bowlers in Visakhapatnam.

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine combined 60 runs off 27 deliveries for the first wicket before being bowled by bowler Anrich Nortje. The unflappable Narine went on his merry way, scoring his highest T20 score of 85 from 39 deliveries.

He was well supported by Under-19 sensation Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who struck 54 off 27 balls in his first IPL match. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh finished off KKR’s dominant batting performance. While Andre Russell hit 41 off 19, Rinku slammed an 8-ball 26 to help KKR reach 272/7 in 20 overs.

In response, DC are 21/1 in two overs, with Prithvi Shaw removed for 10 as KKR seeks their third consecutive IPL victory to begin 2024.
