T20 events like the Indian Premier League draw a lot of attention, with new TV and internet streaming records set on a regular basis. Fans make it to stadiums to cheer for their favourite teams.
When a cricket fan goes to a stadium to watch a live match, he or she does all possible to show off their passion in a Toing style. Here are five instances where fans have shown their support for cricketers in a #StayToing fashion.
1) A woman says she won’t marry until RCB win the IPL trophy
The IPL franchise The Royal Challengers In the history of the league, Bangalore has produced several Toing Moments. RCB have been one of the most popular franchises in the IPL since their debut in 2008. The Bangalore-based team, however, has never won a title.
RCB qualified for the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but lost the championship match in all three years. Nonetheless, they retain a sizable and devoted fan base.
Last season, a woman was seen at an IPL match with a Toing poster that stated, “Not gettin’ married till RCB wins IPL.”
2) A young female fan of Jos Buttler meets her hero
Many international players have gained a large fan base by doing well in the Indian Premier League. England’s great opener Jos Buttler, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals, is one of them.
A young girl fan had the opportunity to meet Buttler at the Narendra Modi Stadium before RR’s away game against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. She became emotional as she engaged with the English actor, obtained his autograph, and took a photo with him.
3) ‘The RCB Girl’ Deepika Ghose becomes an overnight internet sensation
Deepika Ghose became an overnight social media phenomenon in IPL 2019 after appearing on camera cheering for the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Ghose gained thousands of Instagram followers after being seen on the large screen by the cameramen. She rose to fame as #TheRCBGirl, and four years later, she is still #StayToing when it comes to RCB support at home.
4) An old fan fulfils her wish of meeting MS Dhoni
At the Wankhede Stadium during the IPL 2019 season, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni met one of his oldest fans. Dhoni noticed an old woman sitting outside after the match between CSK and MI concluded.
She was joined by a small girl. They carried a sign that indicated they were only there for MS Dhoni. The CSK captain did not disappoint them, as he spoke with them for five minutes and signed a Toing signature.
5) A Heartbroken RCB Fan
As previously said, Royal Challengers Bangalore have a sizable fan base in the league. A sad RCB fan’s comments went viral on the internet during a match between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In a nail-biting thriller that night, LSG defeated RCB by one wicket. The cameramen caught an emotional fan’s dismay, and the photographs quickly went viral on social media.
