Rachin Ravindra, an all-rounder from New Zealand, is 24 years old and will play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the next Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
Rachin Ravindra registered for the IPL 2024 auction with a starting bid of 50 lakh. On Tuesday, December 19, he was signed by the Chennai-based franchise for 1.80 crore at the current event in Dubai.
CSK was the first to make an offer for the outstanding teenager. They outbid the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Ravindra’s services.
Several fans rushed to social media to express their delight with Rachin Ravindra joining MS Dhoni’s IPL 2024 squad. Here are some of the most common responses:
Rachin Ravindra was New Zealand’s outstanding batsman at the 2023 World Cup in India. The southpaw racked up 578 runs in 10 innings, averaging 64.22. During the main ICC tournament, he hit three centuries and two fifties.
It’s worth noting that Devon Conway, Rachin’s Blackcaps opening partner, is also on the CSK roster. However, with the existence of Ruturaj Gaikwad, it remains to be seen if the two would open together in IPL 2024 as well.
After signing Rachin Ravindra, CSK went all out for New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell, New Zealand’s middle-order lynchpin, also secured a hefty contract in the IPL 2024 auction. The seasoned combatant had put his starting bid at one crore.
The Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings battled against one other for the proven performer. However, when the price reached 12 crore, Chennai made a late entrance and eventually bought him for a staggering 14 crore.
MS Dhoni and Co. won the IPL 2023 final by a dramatic five-wicket triumph (DLS method) over Gujarat Titans (GT) earlier this year, clinching a record-equaling fifth trophy.
