Kane Williamson, a veteran New Zealand batter, takes the field today for Gujarat Titans (GT). It’s his maiden appearance this IPL 2024 season, facing off against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Initially excluded from the starting lineup for three games, he eventually joined the XI versus PBKS at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 4th. Replacing David Miller, he earned a spot.

Williamson’s stint with GT last year was brief, with just a solitary appearance. During the inaugural match against CSK, he sustained a knee injury while fielding, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

GT will be without its star left-handed hitter, David Miller, for their game against PBKS. Skipper Shubman Gill said that the southpaw was not eligible for selection owing to a niggle.

Gill stated this during the toss:

“We have started off pretty well, we have got couple of games on the road after this, games on the road are important. Last year, we played away from home pretty well. David Miller misses out due to a niggle and Kane Williamson comes into the side.”
