Ruturaj Gaikwad of Team India batted well in the third T20I against Australia on Tuesday, November 28 in Guwahati. The opener hit a brilliant 123* off 57 balls, his first international century for the Men in Blue.

Gaikwad was sluggish to get going and battled mightily on the powerplay. However, he just shifted gears in the conclusion of the innings and ensured that India reached a massive total.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s explosive innings after Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket

India lost a few of early wickets, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav appeared to be the aggressor. This guaranteed that even when Gaikwad’s timing was off, India maintained to score at a reasonable rate.

After SKY was removed for 39, Gaikwad understood it was his responsibility to lift the ante, and he utterly destroyed the Australian bowlers. It was almost as if Australia skipper Matthew Wade was striking boundaries and sixes at will, and no choices appeared to work.

He threw the ball to Glenn Maxwell in the final over and that gamble certainly didn’t pay off as he was smashed for 30 runs. Gaikwad’s blitz ensured India set a daunting target of 223 for the Aussies. The visitors have gotten off to a rollicking start, but need to keep going to have a crack at the target.
