Mumbai Indians (MI) announced Hardik Pandya as their new captain on December 15th for the upcoming Indian Premier League. Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma, who was one of the most successful IPL captains. Sharma guided Mumbai to 5 championships and 1 Champions League title.
Following the retentions, MI traded Cameron Green to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for ex-Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya during the IPL trading window.

Several MI supporters, on the other hand, were dissatisfied with the relocation. To vent his rage, one of the supporters set fire to MI’s shirt. On X (previously known as Twitter), the user tagged the Mumbai-based franchise and captioned the post:
“You deserve this.”

In terms of victories, Rohit is the second most successful skipper in IPL history, after only MS Dhoni. The 36-year-old guided MI to 87 victories in 158 games for a win percentage of 55.06.
In contrast, Hardik Pandya guided GT to the IPL title in their maiden season. The Ahmedabad-based team also reached the IPL 2023 final under his guidance, but lost to eventual winners Chennai Super Kings. He guided the Titans to 22 victories in 31 games, with a win percentage of 70.96.
