The Women’s Premier League ended with a bang as Mumbai Indians emerged victorious after an exciting match against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium. During the tournament, players put on dazzling displays in some of the most action-packed situations imaginable. Here are the five best bowling performances from this edition of the WPL 2023.
1) Marizanne Kapp (5-15 against GG)
South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp dominated the ninth tournament match between DC and Gujarat Giants with her bowling performance. She achieved an outstanding five wickets while giving up only 15 runs in her quota of four overs. Her impressive performance left the Giants struggling at 31-5 after six overs, setting Delhi up for a comfortable chase which they completed without losing a wicket and taking the game 105 runs to victory.
2) Saika Ishaque (4-11 against GG)
The Mumbai Indians achieved an impressive total of 207 runs in the opening match of WPL 2023. In response, Gujarat fumbled to a score of 64 all out, giving up the match by 143 runs. Saiqa Ishaque spearheaded Gujarat’s defeat with her impressive bowling performance; she took 4-11 in 3.1 overs.
3) Tara Norris (5-29 against RCB)
Delhi’s Tara Norris put in a stunning performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore as she took five wickets for only 29 runs. Her wickets included those of Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, and Heather Knight. For her incredible display, she earned the Player of the Match award.
4) Issy Wong (4-15 against UPW)
Issy Wong was a powerhouse for the Mumbai Indians in their eliminator match with the UP Warriorz. She put on a magnificent bowling performance that pushed her team to victory as MI tallied up 182 runs in their first innings. With her impactful efforts, UPW was unable to catch up and finished with 110 runs.
5) Kim Garth (5-36 against UPW)
In the third match of the tournament, Gujarat Giants faced UP Warriorz. The Giants posted a total of 169 runs, which was quickly challenged by Garth, who took out Alyssa Healy, Shweta Sehrawat, Kiran Navgire and Tahlia McGrath to reduce UPW to 88-5. Although she added one more wicket, Grace Harris’ phenomenal batting performance enabled UP Warriorz to take the win.
