On April 17th, at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni, made two impressive catches under pressure against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The first catch was to dismiss Glenn Maxwell, who had scored 76 runs off 36 deliveries, and the second catch was to dismiss RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who had scored 62 runs off 33 balls. These catches helped CSK to regain control of the game.
1) Glenn Maxwell Catch
The 13th over, bowled by Maheesh Theekshana, witnessed an incident where a right-handed batsman attempted a slog sweep into the crowd but ended up slicing it high in the air. As the ball swirled in the air for a long time, MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), made a loud call to keep Theekshana at a safe distance and avoid any collisions. Despite his age, the 41-year-old managed to complete one of the most challenging catches of the season. This catch led to the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell, and the partnership between Maxwell and Faf du Plessis for the third wicket finally ended at 126 runs.
2) Faf du Plessis Catch
In the 14th over, Moeen Ali bowled a delivery that was top-edged by Faf du Plessis, which sent the ball high up in the air. Just like Glenn Maxwell’s dismissal earlier, MS Dhoni made another spectacular catch. This time, Dhoni moved towards the square leg region, adjusted his helmet, and positioned himself well underneath the ball to complete another remarkable catch of the night.
CSK Win Last-Over Thriller Against RCB by Eight Runs
Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings won a thrilling last-over contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs, restricting them to 218/8. Although Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell played well, the other RCB batsmen failed to deliver. Dinesh Karthik looked promising with his 28 off 14 balls but got out in the 17th over.
Tushar Deshpande was the standout bowler for CSK, picking up three wickets for 45 runs, while Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets. Akash Singh, Maheesh Theekshana, and Moeen Ali claimed one wicket each.
