Gujarat Titans (GT) players David Miller and Rashid Khan were devastated after losing their IPL 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by four runs on the final ball at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, April 24.
Both international players played a significant part in keeping the Titans alive in their pursuit of a huge 225. However, with five runs needed off the penultimate delivery, Rashid was unable to locate the boundary, and Tristan Stubbs at long-on was overjoyed after scooping the ball.
While there was excitement in the DC camp, David Miller was in agony, and Shubman Gill could only watch expressionlessly. Rashid Khan was consoled by non-striker Mohit Sharma following the final ball. Here is the video shared by the IPL:
DC captain Rishabh Pant smiled after the win, but only slightly, since he was presumably aware that the game might have gone any way. He was named Player of the Match after scoring an incredible 88* off only 43 balls.
Rashid Khan made an emotional post after the loss
Rashid Khan stood between DC and two points after David Miller went for 55 from 23 balls. While the needed run rate was more than 18 in the final two overs, the Afghanistan star refused to give up and continued finding boundaries just in time.
With 11 runs needed from two balls, he hit a six over long off. While he was upset about not hitting the final ball into the stands, Rashid had a message for the GT supporters, telling them that their club will keep battling.
Here’s what he shared on X:
The Gujarat Titans have plummeted to sixth position in the IPL 2024 points table after five defeats in nine games.
