IPL 2024’s final match takes place at Chepauk’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. A BCCI official stated it will host the defending champions’ home ground finale, PTI reported.
Last year, the Super Kings won their fifth title, equalling their previous record, after defeating the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad’s renowned Narendra Modi Stadium. Ravindra Jadeja struck a boundary and a maximum to lead the Yellow Army to victory by six wickets.
A BCCI official informed PTI regarding the IPL 2024 venue:
“The IPL Governing Council has followed the tradition of holding the opening game and final at the home venue of last year’s defending champions — in this case Chennai Super Kings.”
In addition, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is expected to host the league’s Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches. Apart from the final, the Chepauk is set to host the Qualifier 2.
Defending Champions Kick off IPL 2024 Campaign with Dominant Victory
Meanwhile, the Super Kings began their 2024 campaign with a solid six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chennai.
After deciding to bat first, the Royal Challengers scored a solid 173 thanks to some pyrotechnics from Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat.
The Super Kings got off to a fantastic start in their chase, with newcomer Rachin Ravindra scoring 37 off 15 balls, including three sixes. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Daryl Mitchell, and Ajinkya Rahane also made some spectacular shots.
However, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube stayed to the end to help the Super Kings cross the finish line. Gaikwad’s men will meet the Gujarat Titans on Tuesday in Chennai.
The Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders won the following two IPL 2024 games, defeating the Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad, respectively.
The Lucknow Super Giants begin their 2024 season on Sunday against the Rajasthan Royals, while the Mumbai Indians face the Titans.
