For the remaining 2023 World Cup matches, the BCCI has prohibited fireworks at the Wankhede Stadium and the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The restriction is being implemented due to the deterioration of air quality in megacities like as Mumbai and Delhi.

The 2023 World Cup in India ofte­n features fireworks. The­y’re a key part of cele­brations, mainly when India plays. The Men in Blue­ are set to face Sri Lanka in Mumbai ne­xt, on November 2nd. Howeve­r, there won’t be any fire­works after this match.

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will also host the match between Australia and Afghanistan, as well as Team India’s semifinal match. There will be no fireworks now because of the restriction.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium will host one more match on November 6, against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

“BCCI is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the ICC and there won’t be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level.”
