The fans were very upset when Sanju Samson was given out in a controversial way during an IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday. The RR captain also looked sad after the third umpire’s decision did not favor him.
The event occurred in the 16th over, when Sanju Samson attempted to smash a half-tracker from Mukesh Kumar with the fourth delivery of the over but was unable to middle the ball. Despite some wobbles at the boundary dimensions, Shai Hope apparently held on to the catch.
According to the third umpire, Hope cleanly caught the ball, and Samson was ruled out. However, another perspective showed Hope’s knee apparently contacting the cushions, but the third umpire made a hasty ruling.
Sanju Samson was out. The third umpire made the final call. Samson started walking back to the dugout. Then he got told that the fielder touched the ropes. But the 15-second timer was already over. So Samson got into a big argument with the umpires.

Interestingly, supporters pointed out that the third umpire delayed around three minutes to pronounce a wide but quickly decided on Samson’s wicket.
