Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) versatile player Andre Russell yet again exhibited his exceptional talent by achieving a spectacular dismissal of Aiden Markram in the thrilling finale of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Sadly the esteemed former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain faced an untimely departure scoring a mere 20 runs from 23 deliveries at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on a memorable Sunday May 26th.
Aiden Markram faced the difficult task of restoring Heinrich Klaasen’s innings, which was nearly beyond repair in the middle overs. The KKR bowlers left no place for the SRH hitters to function, and Markram, who came into bat in the second over, struggled to gain momentum.
The South African international attempted to take on Andre Russell, who was inserted into the attack in the eleventh over of the innings. He attempted a back-of-the-length delivery, but the additional bounce resulted in a bad connection. The ball drifted towards long-on, where Mitchell Starc made a straightforward catch.

The dismissal throws SRH into a severe downward spiral. Markram also finishes his disastrous campaign with the bat, having scored only 200 runs in 10 innings at an average of 25 and a strike rate of 129.87.
Andre Russell Strikes Again to Dismiss Abdul Samad in IPL 2024 Final
Andre Russell struck again in his following over, sending back SRH’s impact sub, Abdul Samad, and reducing them to 77/7 in the 13th over. The all-rounder has surrendered 19 runs in his opening two overs and taken two wickets thus far.
The talented cricketer has been delivering a stellar performance in the tournament notably securing 16 crucial wickets up to Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad. His gamechanging breakthroughs have undeniably played a significant role in KKRs success.
The Orange Army is now adorned with purple and gold accents. The latter are on the verge of achieving the lowest-ever IPL final total after being reduced to 90/8 after 15 overs in the first innings.
