Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team member Andre Russell showed a kind act towards Delhi Capitals (DC) player Ishant Sharma in their match on Wednesday, April 3 in Visakhapatnam.
Andre Russell had scored 41 runs from 18 balls already. He was ready to play even better in the last over. But Ishant bowled an amazing ball that hit Russell’s stumps. At first, Russell fell down. Then he stood up and clapped for Ishant. He tapped his bat with his gloves to praise Ishant’s great delivery.
Here’s a video of Andre Russell’s ejection, followed by his gesture:
The Kolkata Knight Riders needed only 14 runs in their last over to beat the SunRisers Hyderabad record for the greatest IPL total (277/3 against the Mumbai Indians). However, Ishant gave only eight runs in the 20th over, thwarting the Knight Riders’ momentum.
Andre Russell Carries Forward Sunil Narine’s Momentum for KKR
Although KKR couldn’t break the SunRisers’ record, 272/7 is still a staggering amount. It all started with Sunil Narine teeing off, exactly like in the last game. Delhi squandered a DRS opportunity that would have caught Narine behind, and they paid a high price for it.
Narine hit 85 runs off 39 balls, giving the Knight Riders a fantastic platform to surge from at the conclusion of their innings. Andre Russell’s cameo helped the Knight Riders maintain their momentum in the early innings.
Rinku Singh also contributed with 26 off eight balls as the Knight Riders departed Delhi with a mountain to climb. The Capitals’ pursuit got off to the worst possible start, with four wickets dropped in the powerplay. They need something exceptional to get near to the goal.
