South African past player, AB de Villiers, thinks Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, senior Indian players, need to join the Men in Blue squad. This team will head to the West Indies and the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Rohit and Virat have not played any T20 cricket for India since their loss to England in last year’s T20 World Cup semi-final. Yet, given their performance in the World Cup 2023, speculation is increasing about their return to the Indian T20I team.

In a video on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers shared his thoughts on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He expressed his admiration for both players and highlighted their exceptional skills on the cricket field. De Villiers emphasized that Rohit Sharma’s ability to score big runs consistently and Virat Kohli’s incredible batting technique. He said:

“It is just one year away (T20 World Cup) so I don’t see any reason why they (Rohit and Virat) shouldn’t be there. You need experience in World Cups and I don’t think you get any better experience than the two of them. Rohit batted very well at the top of the order in the World Cup and that’s exactly what you want in T20 cricket. Virat is the glue of that middle order.”

AB de Villiers empathizes with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, says he knows how they feel

AB de Villiers played in the 2015 World Cup, when South Africa was eliminated in the semifinals by New Zealand in sad way. De Villiers understands how Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli feel after losing the 2023 World Cup final.
In response, he stated:
“I can understand how Rohit and Virat must be feeling after missing out on the World Cup. I have gone through that feeling when we lost the 2015 World Cup semifinal. I don’t even know whether I am over it now. It’s almost like you have taken a feel of a trophy but then it’s taken away from you. So yes, it is tough to recover quickly from that knock.”
