Aarya Desai, a cricketer from Gujarat, has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Aarya Desai will join the team for the remainder of IPL 2023 for INR 20 lakhs. KKR announced this through a media release. Aarya Desai, who is just 20 years old and has one fifty in six innings, made his first-class debut for Gujarat earlier this year. Although the press release didn’t reveal any details about Aarya Desai’s recruitment as a replacement, two-time champions have already lost the services of Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan due to personal reasons. Jason Roy has been brought in to replace him.
In addition to Shakib Al Hasan, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have also been missing their regular captain Shreyas Iyer, who has suffered a back injury. Shreyas Iyer, a right-handed batsman, will require surgery and is expected to be fit in time for the 2023 World Cup.
KKR’s Performance So Far in IPL 2023: Two Victories Out of Three Matches Played
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began their IPL 2023 campaign with a loss of seven runs against the Punjab Kings. However, they made a comeback with a huge 82-run win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Their most remarkable victory came against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Although they had a shaky start while chasing a daunting target of 205 against a highly skilled bowling unit, KKR managed to hang in there. In the end, they needed 29 runs off the last over, and Rinku Singh stepped up to the plate and hit five sixes in five deliveries, leading the team to a thrilling victory.
Rinku Singh played an unbeaten knock of 48 off just 21 deliveries to guide his team to a memorable win and was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer contributed with the top-score of 83 off 39 balls, and Nitish Rana added a crucial 45 runs to the total. Currently, Nitish Rana and his teammates are playing against the SunRisers Hyderabad at their home ground in Kolkata.
