Venkatesh Prasad has been critical of KL Rahul over the Indian batter losing form in Test cricket. He lashed out at Rahul and also alleged ‘favouritism’ in the Indian cricket team, adding that KL Rahul does not deserve a place in the Indian Test playing XI. In a series of tweets, Venkatesh Prasad even said Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan did not get such chances as KL Rahul despite performing better at the opener’s spot for India in the past.
Things started to heat up after former batter Aakash Chopra posted a video about KL Rahul’s test cricket form & Prasad’s criticism on his YouTube channel. The contents of the footage irked Prasad, who criticised Chopra on Twitter for making a “vile” video & calling him a peddler of an agenda. In a long six-tweet thread, Prasad started by first calling Chopra’s comments uncalled for and accused the former batter of misquoting him. After getting into a heated argument with each other over KL Rahul’s form, former India player Aakash Chopra invited former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad for a live chat where they could discuss the issue further, an offer which was turned down by the latter.
Returning to KL Rahul, he has only made 38 runs in three innings in Border Gavaskar Trophy, 2023. While he has been given a spot in the squad for the remaining two matches, he has lost the designation of vice-captain.
The Internet has reacted this way on the Aakash Chopra v Venkatesh Prasad’s Twitter war.
