In 2023, PBKS had another tough IPL season. They ended up eighth on the league table, gaining only 12 points from 14 matches.
Despite this, they largely kept their squad unchanged. They chose to stick with their main players for the next season. They also made some noteworthy additions to their team in the IPL 2024 auction, like Harshal Patel and Rilee Rossouw.
Next season, PKBS hopes to turn around their situation. In light of the foregoing, these three uncapped players may be crucial to PBKS in the IPL 2024.
1. Prabhsimran Singh
Since 2019, Prabhsimran Singh has been with the Punjab Kings. But, getting a fixed spot in the first team wasn’t easy until the past season.
This wicketkeeper from Patiala had several standout innings in IPL 2023. One amazing one was a hundred-hit against Delhi Capital at Arun Jaitley Stadium, a pitch known for slow turns.
Last season saw Prabhsimran in 14 games, making 358 runs. His average was 25.57 and his strike rate 150.42. This clinched him a spot in India’s 2023 Asian Games squad.
The Kings are eager for the hard-hitting 23-year-old to keep this up next season.
2. Atharva Taide
Last season, Atharva Taide had a standout performance with PBKS. The promising batter from Vidarbha took part in seven IPL 2023 games, amassing 186 runs. His average was 26.57 and his strike rate was 144.19. His unique stroke-play skill and ability to remain calm in tense moments wowed everyone.
In addition, the 23-year-old had a respectable Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, with 302 runs in seven games.
He’ll be someone to watch in the 2024 Indian Premier League when PBKS likely slots him at number three next season.
3. Harpreet Brar
Another uncapped player who may be important to PBKS in the IPL 2024 is Harpreet Brar.
Active in the Kings since 2019, this all-rounder bowler played a lot last year. He took nine wickets across 13 games, maintaining an 8.02 economy. Brar’s skills also extend to batting, contributing fast runs when down the line.
From Punjab, Brar also did great in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, catching 15 wickets in 10 matches.
