The 2023 season of the IPL started on March 31, and many players have amazed fans with their outstanding performances over the previous four and a half weeks.
The BCCI established the cash-rich league in 2008 with the goal of creating a platform for new players to compete with the best in the world. Over the past 15 years, many players have used this opportunity to join the Indian T20I team.
Some of the top names who made it to the international team after performing in the IPL include Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh, Devdutt Padikkal, Mayank Markande, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravi Bishnoi, Shubman Gill, and several others.
A similar pattern has persisted in IPL 2023. Many new players have caught the selectors’ attention with their excellent performances.
Here is a list of three uncapped players India’s selectors must consider for the upcoming T20I squad.
1) Yashasvi Jaiswal – Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals have retained Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the IPL 2022 super auction. Many fans were surprised when RR retained him for 4 crores despite the fact that he had not been a consistent performer for the team in the previous two seasons.
RR’s team management, on the other hand, backed him and favoured him as an opener over a capped cricketer like Devdutt Padikkal. In IPL 2023, Jaiswal has not disappointed the backroom crew. The left-handed batsman is one of the tournament’s leading scorers, with a score of 428 runs in just nine innings.
Jaiswal is expected to be named for the Indian T20I team following his 124-run effort against the Mumbai Indians (MI).
2) Tilak Varma – Mumbai Indians
Tilak Varma is another left-handed batter on the list. With his consistent efforts for the Mumbai Indian’s previous season, the Mumbai Indians star announced his arrival on the world’s biggest stage.
Varma has also maintained his excellent form for the squad in the IPL 2023. Varma has scored 274 runs in nine innings with a strike rate of 158.38 despite not having a stable batting position in the MI order. A versatile player like him might be an excellent addition to India’s T20I side.
3) Rinku Singh – Kolkata Knight Riders
India’s T20I team is in dire need of finishers. Jitesh Sharma was recently called up to the squad, and the next finisher to win a spot in the Indian T20I team might be KKR’s, Rinku Singh.
While batting in the middle of the order and striking out at a rate of more than 150, the uncapped batter has scored 270 runs in nine innings. He recently hit five consecutive sixes in a row to chase down 29 runs in five deliveries against the Gujarat Titans.
