Ranji Trophy 2022-23 ended earlier this week at Eden Gardens, Kolkata where Saurashtra beat Bengal to become the champions for the second time. In the summit clash, Captain Jaydev Unadkat led his team from the front and helped them become two-time Ranji Trophy winners by taking nine wickets including a 5-wicket haul.
Several uncapped players like Sarfaraz Khan, Priyank Panchal, Baltej Singh, Harvik Desai and Dhruv Shorey were impressed with their spectacular performances in Ranji Trophy 2022-23. They have inched a step closer to their maiden India Test cap by performing well in the tournament.
The following three players have most boosted their chances of getting a recall in the Indian Test squad:
#1 Mayank Aggarwal
Mayank Aggarwal ended the season as the top-scorer of the tournament with 990 runs in just 13 innings for Karnatka. He was one of the reasons behind Karnataka’s run to the final four. He has a great chance of earning a recall to the Indian Test squad after his magnificent performance in the season.
#2 Ajinkya Rahane
Rahane’s last Test appearance came against South Africa in January last year before the management finally gave up on him after his poor run saga continued. The veteran Indian batter learned from his mistakes and scored 634 runs in just seven games including two hundreds and a fifty for Mumbai.
#3 Prithvi Shaw
The right-hander smacked the highest individual score of the season and may have earned the attention of the selectors through his performances. Shaw scored a record 379 runs whacking 49 fours and 4 maximums proving that he can play marathon knocks as well.
