Two teams with different fortunes in the IPL 2024 face off tonight in Visakhpatnam.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are leading the table after winning their first two matches in IPL 2024. The Delhi Capitals (DC) have lost their first two games and are currently ninth in the points standings.
Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals 19 times out of 29 IPL matches they played. However, Delhi Capitals only won 10 matches against CSK. The rivalry is quite one-sided in favor of the Yellow Brigade.
To that end, these are the top three run-scorers in DC-CSK matches:
1. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is the leading run scorer in DC-CSK encounters. MS Dhoni scored 629 runs against DC with an average of 34.94 and a strike rate of 140.40.
The former CSK captain has scored three half-centuries against DC: in 2011, 2013, and 2018. MS Dhoni has previously had success against DC bowlers and will seek to duplicate such results in IPL 2024 and make an impact with the bat against DC.
2. Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina is another legendary IPL cricketer. The southpaw has had success against every opponent, and DC is no exception. Raina scored 552 runs in 22 innings against DC, with a strike rate of 132.05.
He has scored four half-centuries versus DC, three of which came while playing for CSK. He has the highest score against DC of 59 and ranks second only to MS Dhoni in terms of most runs in DC-CSK encounters.
3. Shikhar Dhawan
The current Punjab Kings captain formerly played for DC and is the third-highest run scorer in DC-CSK contests.
Shikhar Dhawan has 433 runs from just 10 innings in DC-CSK matches, averaging 54.12. He has a great strike rate of 136.16 and hit a century against Chennai Super Kings in 2020.
That century (101*) came from only 58 balls in Sharjah, and Dhawan single-handedly won the game for DC.
